Ah, finally!  Per Sweetwater’s handy NAMM summary, I just learned that EWQL will be releasing updated versions of both RA and Symphonic Choirs on the PLAY interface!  For many of us who use Intel Macs now this is a HUGE deal as these libraries essentially STOPPED working (unless you transferred things to Kontakt 3, etc.).  The new interfaces look very cool, especially the promise of WordBuilder being integrated INTO the plug-in and not a seperate application!  Here’s hoping!

Anyone who is using the new version of WordPress might appreciate this!  There is some issues with the new “captions” feature for images.  I found a great fix here which I am simply reposting below.

Paste this to the bottom of your style.css.  Worked like a charm for me!

I have been very busy over the last few weeks working on various aspects of Seguin Sound studios.  In March of 2008 we moved into new space in Lawrence, Kansas and are still working to establish the space to our needs.  In the new facility, there are two discreet rooms — one for mixing and the other for recording.  Both are located in the basement with the recording facility completely below ground level, minimizing the chance for any environmental sounds to be picked up during a performance.

However, there is much work to be done.  The mixing room is currently being outfitted with acoustical absorbers and the recording room is “unfinished” (bare studs, concrete floor, etc.) so quite a bit of work will need to go into finishing off the walls and ceiling and adding a floor.  More on both of these projects in later posts.

I have included here a quick sketch of the layout of the new studio space showing the location of the acoustical panels.  Click on the image to pull up a larger version.

I will post again soon (and more often throughout 2009!) to show you how I have built the acoustical absorbers as well as some “scientific” tests that were done before and after the room was treated.

Already, even without going through all of the measurements, I can already tell the sound has greatly tightened — especially on the low end.
